The Aoraki Mount Cook Mackenzie region is situated in the centre of New Zealand’s South Island, and accessed through a number of airport gateways including international airports at Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown, and domestic airports at Timaru, Mount Cook, Lake Tekapo, Pukaki, and Glentanner.

Opawa Homestead is part of this region and is a two-hour drive south of Christchurch and a 2.5-hour drive north from Dunedin. The region is the ideal base to explore Mount Cook and the Waitaki Lakes.
